church

Village church of Dedinghausen St. John the Baptist

The village church of St. John the Baptist, which is located near the western entrance to the town, is the religious center of the Catholic town. In 1701 the previous church, a small half-timbered chapel, was built, which was demolished again in 1884 due to disrepair. The planning for today's Church of St. John the Baptist began in 1924 and on April 13, 1925 the foundation stone for construction was laid. The church was consecrated on September 29, 1926 by Pastor Johannes Pieper. A renovation took place from 1992 to 1993, and after a fire in the confessional on March 13, 1998, the interior was renovated again. The style of the church can be assigned to historicism , as it was essentially built in the Romanesque style in the 20th century.

A Protestant church does not exist, the Protestant part of the population belongs to the Lukas community in Hörste .
