Location of Garfeln in North Rhine-Westphalia |
Garfeln is a district of the city of Lippstadt in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1974 Garfeln was a municipality in what was then the Büren district .
geography
Garfeln is located in the far east of the city of Lippstadt south of the Lippe . The old village center consists of several farms lying together on the village path. To the west of this are two smaller new development areas in Westerfeld and on Garfelner Straße towards Hörste .
history
The first written mention of Garfeln comes from the year 1284 by the noble family of the Lords of Garfeln. Garfeln was originally a peasantry in the office of Boke of the Prince Diocese of Paderborn , which was ecclesiastically parish in the neighboring village of Hörste. During the French period , Garfeln belonged to the canton Ringboke (also Ringborchen ) in the Paderborn district of the Fulda department in the Kingdom of Westphalia . In the Prussian province of Westphalia , the canton Ringboke became the mayor's office of Ringboke, later Boke , in the Büren district in 1816 . Through the introduction of the Westphalian rural community order , Garfeln became a rural community in the Boke district of Büren in 1844 .
On 1 January 1975. Garfeln was the Sauerland / Paderborn-law incorporated into the city of Lippstadt and changed so that from the Detmold in Arnsberg .
