history

The local history goes back to the year 1262 and begins with the manor of the Lords of Ekeneberne. Different spellings have been used over the centuries: Ekeneberne (1262), Eykeneberne (1437), Eyckelenborn (1484), Eckeneborn (1486), Ekelenborn (1501), Eckelberne (1535) and Eikelbern (1828). Bur, bern and berne mean apartment , settlement . So Ekeneberne would be a branch in the oaks . The manor was probably the pen Meschede against lehnspflichtig , but probably this was true for the Eickel Borner Schultenhof . The family of the Knights von Ekenerberne died out in the second half of the 14th century in the male line and the estate passed to Anton von Berninghausen . His family in turn died out in 1639 and the property passed to the Schorlemer family . Christoph von Schorlemer had to sell the over-indebted property to Maria Theresia Freifrau von Landsberg in 1749 . The von Landsberg family finally sold the property to the Province of Westphalia in 1878 , which opened a nursing home here in 1882, today part of the Lippstadt LWL Clinic .

Eickelborn belonged from 1843 to 1969 for office Oestinghausen in Soest district and was on 1 January 1975. by the Hamm-law Münster / in the city Lippstadt incorporated. Some parcels of Eickelborn were incorporated into the municipalities of Bad Sassendorf and Lippetal .
