The Mount McClintock is with a height of 3490 meters the highest mountain in the Australian Antarctic Territory . In the Britannia Range of the Transantarctic Mountains, it rises at the southern end of the Forbes Ridge and 10 km east of Mount Olympus .
Participants of the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) named him after the British Admiral Sir Leopold McClintock (1819-1907), member of the committee for equipping the expedition ship. McClintock also helped clarify the fate of the missing Franklin expedition to search for the Northwest Passage , which cost everyone their lives.
