Kükenbruch is a small town in East Westphalia-Lippe with about 258 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2016) and is a part of the municipality of Extertal in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

The place is in the north of the municipality Extertal between the districts of Almena , Laßbruch and Silixen . It is located at an altitude of around 110–150 meters above sea ​​level . The street village is at the intersection of the two streets "Laßbruch- Krankenhagen " and "Almena-Silixen".
Rinteln is about 6 kilometers (km) to the north, Hameln 20 km to the east and Bielefeld 36 km to the south-southwest (all information measured as the crow flies ).

history

The municipality of Kükenbruch was re-established on January 1, 1921 by being separated from the municipality of Laßbruch . On January 1, 1969, it was incorporated into the new municipality of Extertal.

Economy and Infrastructure

To the east of the village, in the valley of the Exter , a left tributary of the Weser , runs the Extertalstraße ( Landesstraße 435).

In the small town of Bögerhof , just before the state border with Lower Saxony , there was a train station for the Extertalbahn, which is now only used for tourism .

In 1951 Alfred Hugenberg died on the family estate in Kükenbruch .

Even today, Kükenbruch still has an appearance characterized by agriculture and forestry , even if these branches of the economy no longer play a significant role. There are no more sights and no retail stores in town . The only restaurant there is a nationally known biker meeting point .
