history

Until the 16th century, the Senne south of the Menkhauser and Barkhauser mountains in the Teutoburg Forest was almost uninhabited. The heather was as high as a man with twigs as thick as a finger and in the depressions stood putrid water that could not seep away. The field name Fauler Grund still reminds of this today in this area. Willows, oaks and alders, called Ellern , grew along the streams . After the first settlement in the 17th century, the area from the mountains to Stukenbrock was used as pastureland for sheep, goats and cattle. At that time, the stable feeding was not yet known. In summer the animals found their food in the river plains and in winter they ate the heather sticking out of the snow. At lunchtime and in the evening, the animals were led to watering on so-called drift paths .

In order to consolidate the territorial sovereignty that Lippi's rulers began in the age of mercantilism , after the Thirty Years' War , the fallow Senne with a schedule performed Peuplierungspolitik to colonize. Along the border, farmers were settled in the immediate vicinity of the border.

This area was owned by the Counts of the Lippe . They monitored their property, had it checked with gnaws and set corresponding boundary stones on the Lippe border with Ravensberg and Rietberg . The settlers built their farms on the Dalbkebach , because the water was of great importance for irrigating the meadows and for watering the cattle. The Lippische Reihe grew slowly , as the vernacular called the farmsteads and Kötterhouses along the course of the stream. All farms officially belonged to the village of Oerlinghausen , which was administered by a Vogt . Every entry made by a resident to the state government was written by the resident and forwarded to Detmold . All baptisms, weddings and funeral services for the residents of the Lippische Reihe took place in the Oerlinghauser church . The pastor from Oerlinghausen had to keep a riding horse in order to be able to cope with the long distances within his district.

In 1841 the Lippe government issued a rural community code . In it it was decreed that all separate farms are to be formed into independent communities. The courtyards created in the Lippische Reihe were combined with Menkhausen, Dalbke, Bokelfenn and the Wistinghauser Senne to form the municipality of Senne.

In order to save the children the long way to Oerlinghausen, the community decided in 1889 to build their own school. In 1927 a separate cemetery was set up, where the citizens of Oerlinghausen-Südstadt are buried today. In the same year the name of the community was changed to Lipperzeile .

As part of the North Rhine-Westphalian regional reform , the city of Oerlinghausen and the communities of Lipperzeile and Helpup were merged on January 1, 1969 to form the new city of Oerlinghausen. There was considerable resistance to this in Lipperzeile. In a vote, over 90% of the population spoke out against the planned affiliation. Ultimately, Lipperzeile brought an action against the incorporation before the Constitutional Court in Münster ; The aim was to form an independent community with Sennestadt , which in turn sued against incorporation into Bielefeld. In the legal dispute, Hans Bernhard Reichow acted as expert for Lipper series . The lawsuit was lost because of the Lippe punctures , among other things .
