location

Niese lies at an altitude of 260  m above sea level. NN and around ten kilometers southeast of the core city of Lügde on the tributary of the same name, the Emmer . The area is 5,459 km².

history

A deed of donation from 1031 contains the first evidence for the place, which is mentioned here as the Prädium Nisa . The property, which probably belonged to the Corvey Imperial Abbey, later fell desolate. Its location is unknown and probably not identical to that of the present-day village. In the 13./14. In the 19th century, the settlement "Süthagen" existed in the area of today's district Niese, which is to be found south of the present-day village and which fell in the 14th century. Süthagen is documented and proven by corresponding ceramic finds. In 1522, Niese was re-established with the help of the Brothers Cross of the Falkenhagen Monastery. The agricultural place developed only gradually until the beginning of the 20th century. Progress was only made in the 1920s with the construction of two furniture factories. Today the village belongs to the ranks of those places that are constantly losing inhabitants and are on the way to extinction - due to aging and a lack of births. The most famous son of the village was Hermann Korb , who was the state master builder for Duke Anton Ulrich von Braunschweig-Lüneburg in the early 17th century and who built various churches, castles and aristocratic residences in and around Braunschweig .

The previously independent municipality was incorporated into the municipal reform on January 1, 1970.

Infrastructure

The place is predominantly agricultural. In Niese there is a Catholic church, a furniture market, a grocery store and a restaurant. There is also a leisure facility with a water treading pool.
