history

The swimming pool was built in 1935 by the architect Lucien Béguet on the ground floor of an eight-story building complex. The pool was 33 meters long and ten meters wide and artificial waves could be created. Initially, it served the neighboring Hôtel Lutetia as its own swimming pool. After the Second World War , it became a public bath that was in operation until 1970. The swimming pool was then used as a warehouse by the Dorothée Bis fashion company until 1998. In 2005, La Piscine , a factory outlet center , opened its first store there. In 2010, the luxury brand Hermès opened its first shop on the left bank of the Seine ( Rive Gauche ) with a sales area of almost 1500 m² in the former swimming pool after renovation work under the direction of the architect Denis Montel .
