Lists on the subject |
The pistol vz. 38 (or ČZ 38 ) was a Czechoslovak self-loading pistol.
history
The ČZ 38 was commissioned by the Czechoslovak military before the Second World War. It should be the relatively complex and expensive to manufacture vz. 24 , instead a simply constructed weapon should be available in view of the worsening situation. The pistol was declared the standard pistol in 1938, and an order was placed for 40,000 pieces.
However, not a single copy of the weapons produced could be delivered to the Czechoslovak troops. With the annexation by Germany in 1939, the manufacturing plant was occupied and all weapons were confiscated. The Heereswaffenamt then declared the model as Pistol 39 (t) , and it was mainly issued to the German Air Force .
technology
The pistol is a recoil loader with an unlocked ground lock . The first models were still provided with a fuse, but this was soon removed. The cock could not be cocked manually, the weapon only fired according to the double-action principle . Due to the unfavorable angle of the grip, the weapon did not sit very well in the hand, and the trigger was quite hard. Production was therefore given up again in 1942.
In Czech , the ČZ 38 was also called louskáček ( nutcracker ) because of its peculiar appearance .
