Pittyvaich , was a whiskey distillery in Dufftown , Banffshire , Moray , Scotland . The brandy produced was thus assigned to the Speyside whiskey region .
history
The distillery was founded in 1974 by Arthur Bell & Sons . In 1975 the distillery started operations. It was conceived as a sister company of the Dufftown distillery and should produce malt whiskey for the production of blends . Pot stills were used for the distillation , with two coarse ( wash stills ) and two fine distillation bubbles ( spirit stills ) available. In 1993, however, the company was closed again. In the following years there were still attempts to produce Gordon's gin . In 2002 the buildings were demolished.
Bottlings
The first semi-official bottling of a single malt whiskey from Pittyvaich was issued in 1991 as part of the Flora and Fauna series. Several bottlings by independent bottlers including Signatory and Cadenhead’s had already been launched on the market beforehand.
