The Piusa ( Estonian Piusa jõgi , also: Pimža jõgi ; Russian Пиуза, Пимжа Piusa, Pimscha ) is a river in southwest Estonia and the Russian Pskov Oblast .
The river has its source at Plaani, Haanja municipality in Võru county . Its length is 109 km. In a section of 17 km near Pechory it forms the border between Estonia and the Russian Federation. After another 14 km it flows into the southern part of the Peipussee , the Pleskauer See, on the Russian side .
The catchment area of the Piusa covers 796 km², of which 508 km² are on Estonian territory. Their gradient of 212 m is the highest of all Estonian rivers, their average flow rate is 5.5–6 m³ / s.
