Pixie and Dixie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pixie and Dixie is a series about two mouse brothers from the animation studios of Hanna-Barbera . Her adventures were broadcast in the USA from 1958 onwards as part of the Huckleberry Hound Show , which included Pixie and Dixie as well as two other series: Huckleberry Hound and Yogi Bear (later replaced by Yakky Doodle ). The cartoon show ran on ARD under the title Hucky and his friends in all regional programs of the 1960s and was the first long-term cartoon show on West German television.

Pixie and Dixie always have to defend themselves against the attacks of the cat Jinks (USA: Mr. Jinks), who wants to prove himself as a mouse catcher. But he regularly loses out in the chases.

The series is somewhat similar in its basic features to Tom and Jerry , a screening series by William Hanna and Joe Barbera , which the two artists created for MGM before they founded their own studio. The basic conflict "cat versus mouse" is the same. There are differences in the animation: if Tom and Jerry were still fully animated, Pixie and Dixie used the much cheaper limited animation (like all other Hanna-Barbera TV series). - On the other hand, Pixie, Dixie and Jinks were provided with original dubbing voices in the American and German versions, while Tom and Jerry did not speak in the cinema.

The adventures of Pixie and Dixie also appeared in the comic series of the New Tessloff Verlag under the titles Hucky and his friends , the Feuerstein family and The Jetsons . The cat Jinks called himself Anton there .
