The Pizzo Carbonara is the highest point of the Madonie and with a height of 1979 m slm the highest non-volcanic mountain in Sicily .
It is located near the road between Isnello and Polizzi Generosa in the metropolitan city of Palermo .
The Karst features of the Madonie are particularly pronounced on Pizzo Carbonara. Countless sinkholes stretch up from all sides to the summit area.
