Pyotr Alexeyevich Bessonov ( Russian Пётр Алексеевич Бессонов , scientific. Transliteration Pëtr Alekseevic Bessonov ; born June 4 jul. / 16th June  1828 greg. In Moscow ; † February 22 jul. / 6. March  1898 greg. In Kharkiv ) was a Russian historian .

Peter was a librarian at Moscow University for a long time and from 1878 as a professor of Russian history in Kharkov . His main merit was the publication of Slavic folk songs; He wrote several works on Russian literary history and edited the writings of the Serbian journalist Juraj Križanić .
