Pyotr Wassiljewitsch Dubinin ( Russian : Пётр Васильевич Дубинин ; born June 30, 1909 in Warsaw , † November 18, 1983 in Gorki ) was a Soviet chess player .

Dubinin became master of the USSR in correspondence chess in 1957 and became correspondence chess grandmaster in 1962 . In the third correspondence chess world championship 1959-1962 he was runner-up behind Alberic O'Kelly de Galway .

Dubinin was also a strong close chess player, so in 1949 he won the championship of the Russian SFSR with Georgi Iliwitsky , but lost the play-off against Iliwitsky with 6-2 points. In 1950 the World Chess Federation FIDE awarded him the title of International Master in local chess .

From 1925 Dubinin composed some chess problems , mostly studies .
