The von Plankenfels family was a Frankish knight dynasty with possessions in the knightly canton of Gebürg .
origin
The eponymous place Plankenfels is today a municipality in the district of Bayreuth in the administrative district of Upper Franconia . The gender is documented there from 1217 until 1538. In the literature, the family is very often called "Blanckenfels" or "Blankenfels".
