Plastician

Plastician (formerly Plasticman ) is the stage name of British DJ and producer Chris Reed from Thornton Heath, London .

Chris Reed started DJing, mostly from UK Garage , at the age of 16. As a DJ he then played on BBC Radio 1 and various pirate stations in Great Britain, such as 2G FM and Delight FM. Since 2004 he can be heard regularly from 11pm to 1am ( GMT ) with his own show on Rinse FM. When he was 18, he began to work as a producer. His first production was "Venom" with Slimzos Recordings in 2002. Further releases with the record labels ARMY, Southside Dubstars, Contagious, Road, Soulja and Aphex Twins ' Rephlex Records followed. In 2004 he founded the label Terrorhythm Recordings , with which he established himself as an important producer on the grime scene . His debut album “Beg to Differ” was released on this label in 2008.

Plastician's musical style is a mixture of East London Grime and South London Dubstep .

Name change

When Chris Reed became better known under the name Plasticman , Richie Hawtin , who has the rights to the name "Plastikman" , threatened with legal action. To avoid litigation, Reed changed his stage name to Plastician .
