Plateau du Coiron
The Plateau du Coiron is a volcanic basalt plateau in the Ardèche department in France .
geography
The plateau lies in Vivarais , the easternmost part of the Massif Central between the Rhone and the central reaches of the Ardèche . The towns of Privas , Aubenas , Villeneuve-de-Berg and Rochemaure delimit the area. The highest point is the 1,017 meter high Crête de Blandine . The Payre River flows through the plateau in a west-east direction.
Attractions
The medieval rock dwellings of the Balmes de Montbrun near Saint-Jean-le-Centenier are the outstanding sights of the barren landscape.
