PlayStation Mobile was an app from the electronics company Sony , which allowed users to download games onto certified smartphones and tablets . These had to run the Android operating system . PlayStation Mobile games could also be played on the PlayStation Vita . PlayStation Mobile was discontinued on September 10, 2015. PlayStation Mobile was a product of the PlayStation brand .

Sony Computer Entertainment announced the PlayStation Mobile platform in autumn 2011 and began operating it on a trial basis in October 2011. A public beta phase followed in April 2012, for which interested parties could register and were then admitted to the program after Sony had explicitly activated it.
On October 3, 2012, PlayStation Mobile was officially launched. The platform is a specialized app store that can only be installed and run on certified devices with Android. Sony wants to ensure the highest possible quality of the games. At the start of the offer, around 30 titles were available, for example the arcade simulation Flick Hockey . Most of the smartphones in the Xperia range were PlayStation Mobile certified.
A developer kit is to be released in November 2012 , with which developers can specifically develop games for PlayStation Mobile.
On August 6, 2014, Sony announced that it would end support for the PlayStation Mobile Android app. Without giving a specific reason, Sony announced the discontinuation of PlayStation Mobile on March 11, 2015. As of September 10, 2015, the program will be completely terminated.
