Coordinates: 34 ° 43 ′  S , 138 ° 40 ′  E The City of Playford is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . Playford is part of the metropolis of Adelaide , the capital of South Australia. The area is 346 km² and has about 90,000 inhabitants (2016).

Playford is located in north Adelaide about 25 kilometers north of the city center. The area includes 34 neighborhoods: Andrews Farm, Angle Vale, Bibaringa, Blakeview, Buckland Park, Craigmore, Davoren Park, Elizabeth, Elizabeth Downs, Elizabeth East, Elizabeth Grove, Elizabeth North, Elizabeth Park, Elizabeth South, Elizabeth Vale, Elizabeth West, Evanston Park, Gould Creek, Hillbank, Humbug Scrub, MacDonald Park, Munno Para, Munno Para Downs, Munno Para West, One Tree Hill, Penfield, Penfield Gardens, Sampson Flat, Smithfield, Smithfield Plains, Uleybury, Virginia, Waterloo Corner and Yattalunga . The council's administrative headquarters are located in the Elizabeth district in the center of the LGA.

The Playford City Council has 16 members, 15 councilors are elected by the residents of the six wards (three each from Ward 1, 2 and 4, two each from Ward 3, 5 and 6). These six districts are determined independently of the districts. The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the city.
