Please love me ( Japanese ダ メ な 私 に 恋 し て く だ さ い , Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai ) is a manga series by Aya Nakahara . It was published from 2013 to 2016 and falls into the Josei , Comedy and Romantic genres and has been translated into several languages.

Michiko Shibata, who is around 30 years old, lives with the student Junta, whom she also supports financially. But her company went bankrupt some time ago and the job search is not going well, so that Shibata is now almost penniless. She is laughed at for her relationship with the student by her former colleagues, who are younger and are now firmly committed. And since he doesn't believe in marrying her and taking care of her later, she breaks up with him. By chance, Shibata meets Akumu Kurosawa, her former head of department, whom she and her colleagues have never liked. He invites her to dinner a few times and she can talk to him about her worries. Finally he offers her to work as a waitress in his restaurant. Shibata seizes the chance, but soon finds that the new work environment will not be easy for her.

The series was published from April 15, 2013 (issue 5/2013) to August 12, 2016 (issue 9/2016) in You magazine , which is aimed at young women. Its publisher Shueisha brought out the 40 chapters in ten anthologies ( anthologies ). From October 15, 2016 (11/2016 edition) to October 15, 2018 (11/2018 edition), the sequel Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai R was published , comprising a further 24 chapters in six volumes. While the last volume of the first series sold over 80,000 copies in two weeks after publication, the sixth volume of the sequel sold 44,000 copies in the same time.

A German translation of the manga has been published by Carlsen Manga since June 2019, with two volumes so far. Delcourt publishes a French version and Planet Manga an Italian one.

Television series

In 2016, the Japanese broadcaster TBS broadcast an adaptation of the manga as a dorama . Kyoko Fukada and Dean Fujioka took on the roles of Michiko Shibata and Ayumu Kurosawa, Shohei Miura appears as Daichi Mogami. Directed by Hayato Kawai .
