Pleurotrocha petromyzon is a species from the genus Pleurotrocha from the phylum of rotifers (Rotatoria).
description
The animals reach a size of 220 to 280 µm, well-nourished giant forms are 450 to 480 µm long. They have a soft body and a foot that is a quarter of the total length. The brain has one eye , but no brain glands.
Diet
Pleurotrocha petromyzon is a scavenger, the animals eat dead water fleas up to the shell.
distribution
The species can be found on water fleas, water lice and bell animal colonies. Giant specimens are often found in the mud of polluted rivers .
