The Pocahontas County Courthouse in Pocahontas , the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Pocahontas County of middle-northwest US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .
The current building is the third courthouse in Pocahontas County, founded in 1851. The first courthouse was built in Old Rolfe (a little north of today's town of Rolfe in the northeast of the county) as a two-story brick building. The upper floor was used as a school. In 1875 the county seat was relocated to the exact geographic center of the county, which is where today's city of the same name was created. In 1876 the judicial and administrative building was given its intended purpose.
Today's Courthouse is a three-story brick and limestone building built in 1923 to a design by the architectural firm Proudfoot, Bird and Rawson in a neoclassical style.
In 1981 the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places with reference number 81000264 .
