Podul Michelangelo (Timișoara)

The bridge Podul Michelangelo ( German  Michelangelobrücke ) is located in the western Romanian city ​​of Timișoara and crosses the Bega . It connects the I. District Cetate with the III. District Elisabetin . The bridge is located to the west of the Timișoara hydropower plant and is 3.02 kilometers away. Motorized individual traffic and trolleybus traffic are carried over them.

history

The bridge was built in 1970 and is the youngest and widest bridge in the city. In the 1940s there was still a wooden bridge at this point. The city administration decided in 1964 for a new building. It was named after the Italian painter, sculptor, architect and poet Michelangelo .
