history
Today Podul Modoș is the only railway bridge that crosses the Bega within the city. It was built from brick in 1932 when the railway was re- routed towards Buziaș and replaced the former railway bridge at the Széchényi Palace in the I district of Cetate . It had to be rebuilt as early as 1935; its current metal structure was finally created in 1980.
The bridge gained notoriety through numerous suicides committed there .
