The Poetry Glacier ( Polish Lodowiec poezji , poetry -Gletscher ' ) is a glacier on the north coast of King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It flows first in a northerly, then in a northwest direction to Venus Bay .
Scientists on a Polish Antarctic expedition named it in 1984 based on the name of Miłosz Point , which is named after the Polish poet and Nobel Prize winner Czesław Miłosz (1911-2004). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated the naming of the glacier into English in 2003.
