Philippe Verellen

Philippe Verellen (born May 25, 1962 in Antwerp ; † May 9, 2002 there ) was a Belgian racing driver .

Racing career

Philippe Verellen was successful in touring car racing in the 1980s and 1990s . In addition to the third final ranks in 1989 and 1992, he won the overall ranking of the Belgian touring car championship in 1991 and 1993 . He drove in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and competed twice in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 1993 he was a partner of Marc Duez and Éric Bachelart on a Venturi 500LM 25th overall. In 2000 he finished the race in 24th place in the final ranking.

He died in May 2002 in his hometown of Antwerp to cancer .
