Éric Bachelart (born February 28, 1961 in Brussels ) is a Belgian racing team owner and former racing car driver .

Racing career

Monoposto

Éric Bachelart began his driving career in 1984 in Formula Ford and Formula 3 . In 1985 he was ninth in the French Formula 3 championship (overall winner Pierre-Henri Raphanel ) and eleventh in the German championship (champion Volker Weidler ). In 1987 he was third behind Jean Alesi and Éric Bernard in the French championship and then tried to gain a foothold in Formula 3000 . Since he was unable to get a contract with one of the participating teams, he switched to North American formula racing in the early 1990s. His overall victory in the 1991 Indy Lights was his greatest international success as a driver.

Touring and sports car races

Even during his monoposto career, Bachelart regularly drove touring car races . In 1989 and 1993 he was third overall in the Belgian championship . He contested races in the American Le Mans Series , was a regular starter in the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race and drove twice in the Le Mans 24-hour race .

Conquest Racing

In 1997 Bachelart founded Conquest Racing . The racing team was active in the Indy Racing League , the Champ Car Series and the American Le Mans Series. After the end of the 2013 season, the team stopped racing. In 2016, Bachelart was managing director of the US racing team Scuderia Corsa and founded Quest Racing in 2018 together with the French racing driver Alexandre Prémat . The team is involved in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge .
