Marc Duez

Marc Duez (born April 18, 1957 in Verviers ) is a Walloon - Belgian racing driver who has made a name for himself in the motorsport scene as a so-called all - rounder .
Career
Marc Duez began his career in the early 1980s in monoposto Trek. He drove in the Belgian Formula Ford Championship and was second overall in the VW Castrol European Cup in a Ralt RT5 at the end of 1982 . In addition to engagements in various Formula 3 racing series , he also regularly competed in sports car races from 1983 onwards . At around the same time he became active as a rally driver and subsequently won the Belgian rally championships in 1982, 1989 and 1990.
1983 Duez made his debut at the 24-hour race at Le Mans , was killed in Porsche 936C of Joest Racing , however, early in the race with technical problems from. After working for Joest Racing and Ecurie Ecosse, he became a works driver for Mazdaspeed in 1988 . In 1988 , on his second outing on the Sarthe, he drove a works Mazda 767 together with David Leslie and Yoshimi Katayama to 17th place overall. His best placement at Le Mans was eleventh overall in 1996 in the McLaren F1 . In 1999 and 2000 he reached second and fifth class positions on a Chrysler Viper GTS-R from ORECA . His last appearance at Le Mans was in 2002 . Duez was one of the pilots of the Panoz LMP-1 , which for Michel Vaillant film by Luc Besson were selected. The Automobile Club de l'Ouest had insisted that the two vehicles that were allowed to drive in the race for the film had to be driven by professional drivers.
Duez, who also took part in rally world championship races, had his most important international rally successes with a fourth place in the Corsica Rally in 1991 and fifth place in the 1989 Rally Portugal . In the 1990s, he became one of the best sports car and GT drivers in Europe. Four times - in 1992, 1995, 1998 and 1999 - he and various partners won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring . Three times - in 1997, 1998, 2001 - he won the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps , twice - in 2000 and 2006 - in the 24-hour race in Zolder .
After his involvement in the V8 Star Series in 2002, Duez only had sporadic races in international motorsport in the FIA GT Championship and a race in the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring in 2006. He also sporadically participates in ice races and rallycross -Runs part. And duez is also happy to help organize the annual Race of Champions .
