Poha

Poha is a word for pressed, flat rice flakes, which are mainly used in Indian cuisine . The flakes absorb any liquid quickly and cook faster than normal rice. "Poha" is also part of the name of various Indian dishes that use this form of rice. Poha is often used in desserts or to prepare breakfast.

Poha has many regional names, including: avalakki (ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿ, Kannada ), pauaa / paunva (પૌંઆ, Gujarati ), poya ( Rajasthani ) Aval (അവൽ, Malayalam ) and poha or pauwa ( Hindi ).
