Pohlhof
The Pohlhof is located in the town of Altenburg in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia . The former Freihof is the last remaining manor in the city. It is located on the remains of the Altenburg city wall and is a testimony to the rural character of the city in the time before industrialization .
history
The main building was probably built around 1400; its current appearance with the distinctive Renaissance - stepped gable and the old Park probably got the estate from the 16th century. Bernhard von Lindenau was born in the house, he lived, worked and died here.
An outbuilding in which Lindenau exhibited its collection was demolished in 1876 after the opening of the Lindenau Museum .
Today the Altenburg registry office is located in the main building .
