Polemic is a Slovak ska band from Bratislava and, along with Elán , Tublatanka and Horkýže Slíže, is one of the most famous bands in Slovakia .
history
The band was founded in Bratislava in 1989, followed by first concerts in the Slovak capital and the surrounding area. In 1993 the first demo album Vrana was produced in-house and the band gave concerts abroad for the first time. In 1997, in August, Polemic produced the second album entitled Do Ska (German: Ins Ska , also a play on words: doska in Slovak means board , in some context also blackboard or record ), which was released the following November. Due to the great popularity of this album and the sales figures, it was nominated for the Slovak ZAI Prize in the category “Discovery of the Year” in 1998.
1999 was a very important year in the band's history. Your album Ya Man! was published and it was followed by appearances abroad all over Europe. In addition to the many concerts and live performances at festivals, the band also played a concert on the roof of the Slovak Radio in Bratislava.
In 2002 a record deal with BMG-Ariola followed, under which the fourth album Gangster-Ska and the fifth album Nelám si s tým hlavu! were published. In 2005 Polemic moved to Sony Music Entertainment and is still under contract there today.
