Poland Studies.Interdisciplinary (Pol-Int) is a scientific online platform for specialist information, communication and networking. It serves as a permanent place for international and interdisciplinary research on Poland for scientific exchange. Pol-Int is based at the Center for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies (ZIP) of the European University Viadrina and the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice . The ZIP was founded in June 2011 and is managed by Dagmara Jajeśniak-Quast. She is also the head of the “Polish Studies-Interdisciplinary” project and editor of the online platform. The platform is funded by the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation , the German-Polish Science Foundation and the European University Viadrina.

The platform offers subject-relevant information in German, Polish and English from the field of Polish studies: announcements of the latest publications, journals and scientific articles, reviews, job offers and funding opportunities, conference announcements and reports as well as calls for papers from various disciplines. Pol-Int makes it possible to present research projects, exchange ideas and find project partners. In the “Salon” area there is a scientific blog that offers space for topic-related discussions. From April to November 2016, the salon dealt with the topic “Interdisciplinary dimensions of energy and the environment in Central Europe”.

Under the supervision of specialist editors, Pol-Int provides reviews of new scientific publications in three languages ​​and offers the opportunity to comment and discuss current topics, trends and theses in the field of Polish studies. Scientists from various disciplines and countries come together in a virtual location using personal science profiles and joint research topics to present their research projects on Pol-Int and to communicate them via newsletter .

Networking

Pol-Int lives from the international community of Polish Studies, which informs and exchanges information about current research. After registering with Pol-Int, users can post specialist information and write conference reports and reviews. As part of the salon, topic-related events and panel discussions with experts in Germany and Poland are taking place and are intended to promote exchange beyond the digital platform. The events are intended to build a bridge between the digital and analog world of science.

editorial staff

The core editorial team in Frankfurt (Oder) publishes reviews in German, English and Polish and works with around 100 volunteer reviewers and specialist editors. The team sifts through and evaluates over 150 new publications and scientific articles every year. The editorial staff coordinate the workflow up to publication. Polish Studies. Interdisciplinary adheres to the standards of printed, scientific journals. The annual workshops for specialist editors serve to optimize the editorial processes and further develop the online platform.
