Polikarpe Kakabadse ( Georgian პოლიკარპე კაკაბაძე ; February 23rd July / March 7th  1895 greg. In Choni ; † October 17, 1972 in Tbilisi ) was a Georgian - Soviet playwright.

biography

Polikarpe Kakabadse was born on March 7, 1895 into a farming family. His artistic career began in 1918. In his pieces, Kakabadse distinguished himself as a subtle psychologist and an excellent observer of rural life. In Georgia he is considered a master of dialogue. His best-known play is the comedy Qwarqware Tutaberi ( ყვარყვარე თუთაბერი ; also Kvarkvare Tutaberi ), which tells the story of a no-good who becomes head of government through revolutionary confusion. Kakabadse was a staunch pacifist . The story was filmed in 1978 by Dewi Abashidze. Another film, Qalishvili khidobnidan (ქალიშვილი ხიდებობიანი ; also Dewuschka is Chidobani ) (1940), directed by Diomide Antadze, goes back to the piece peasant wedding .

In his native town of Choni there is a museum with publications, photographs and documentation material on his life and work.
