Establishment and history

The Police Museum has existed in its current form since 2007 and is part of the Swedish Police . In 2009 it was nominated for European Museum of the Year and Museum of the Year awards in Sweden . In 2014 more than 58,000 visitors were counted.

It deals with the history of the Swedish police. The exhibitions, which are arranged on two floors, show objects from everyday police life from decades past. Swedish police uniforms since 1850 have been shown in a uniform exhibition, including the first uniform for female police officers introduced in 1958. Everyday life before the introduction of patrol cars in the 1930s as well as the changes resulting from motorization and the use of radio technology are presented. A Volvo PV56 and a Packard , built in 1939, represent the early motorization phase. In addition, well-known Swedish criminal cases are discussed.

A crime scene with typical traces is set up on the upper floor. Another part of the exhibition deals with the role of the police in a democratic society. Another area is specially geared towards children. An outdoor playground is open in the summer months, where the basic rules of traffic are also discussed. Most of the exhibitions are signposted in Swedish , some in English .

There is a police helicopter southeast of the museum.
