Police observation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When police observation (PB) is a measure to combat crime by the police in Germany . It is personal and counts as part of the search for people .

The area of preventive combat is regulated in the respective laws of the federal states, for example the Hamburg law on data processing by the police , in the area of criminal prosecution by Section 163e of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The latter case is subject to a judge's reservation .

If a person is "advertised" for police observation, a corresponding entry is made in the nationwide networked electronic information system of the police ( INPOL ). From this point onwards, all knowledge gained about the observed person (e.g. in the context of traffic controls) is collected and forwarded to the department placing the notice for evaluation. This tries to create a so-called selective movement profile of the observed person on the basis of the information transmitted to it. The aim is u. a. the recording of connections between the observed and other people.
