action

Since winter, a perpetrator known as the “coastal fright” has been causing unrest on Rügen . He robs vacationers by going into their rooms through the windows and stealing valuables. He always flees on a motorcycle. In winter he broke into 20 bungalows. Well, in the summer, he strikes again: During the evening dance, holidaymaker Frau Weber checks on her children and her own things and surprises the horror of the coast. He chokes her and then escapes. He stole a camera and a lot of cash. Lieutenant Richter receives support from Berlin during the investigation: Lieutenant Jürgen Huebner comes to the coast together with Detective Master Weschke.

While checking the last registrations on Rügen, Jürgen Hübner came across Herbert Bobach. The young man went among the showmen , but Hübner is still known from a series of thefts in the Harz Mountains, for which Herbert had to go to prison for 30 months. Herbert flirted at the showmen's with the married Anita, whose husband runs the hype waltz. Anita, however, ends the affair that has barely begun because she has already found a new lover in the laundry driver Marco Floß. Anita wants to get away from the hustle and bustle because her dream of a free life has not come true. Rather, she feels trapped with her jealous husband Otto. When Otto one day finds an unknown jacket at Anita's, Anita claims that Herbert gave it to her. Herbert confirms this version when he sees Anita's pleading look. When the police questioned Herbert a little later, he stayed with his jacket version and had to go to the station. Meanwhile, Anita spends half the night with Marco. When she returns to the hustle and bustle at night, Otto has already put the suitcases in front of her door. Anita goes back to Marco, who is not very enthusiastic. He is the wanted coastal horror and hoards the looted valuables in his house. Anita wants to get him to undo everything. As a trained pastry chef, she wants to settle down with the trained baker Marco and open her own bakery, but Marco refuses to go to work.

The investigators are meanwhile on Marco's trail. While on the run, he ran into a woman who had Marco made a phantom picture. Ms. Weber also noticed Marcos Parfum, which in turn also recognizes a police officer who stopped Marco once at a traffic control. It is now clear that the culprit must be the laundry driver. Jürgen Hübner, in turn, realizes that Herbert must have figured out the perpetrator before they did and that Marco may want to find out on his own. A quick manhunt is initiated.

Herbert actually broke into Marco's house and discovered some of the stolen property. He confronts Marco, who comes to the house with Anita, and is knocked down by him. Anita realizes that Herbert has a severe head injury that needs hospital treatment. She urges Marco to drive Herbert to the hospital. However, the journey ends first in Marco's hiding place - a house where he temporarily stores the stolen valuables. Anita fears that Herbert would not survive another drive and asks Marco to get help at the nearest hospital. A short time after Marco's departure, a police surveillance helicopter appears and Anita manages to draw attention to herself and Herbert. The helicopter crew calls for an ambulance for Herbert and starts chasing Marco. This can finally be found on the street and arrested.

Anita finally separates from her husband Otto and leaves for Magdeburg. Otto continues to run the Walzerbahn and listlessly encourages customers to take a ride.
