Pollinger group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pollinger Group is a young Neolithic regional group in southern Germany, with its core area in Upper Bavaria . The dating ranges from 4,100 to 3,900 BC. Chr.

The term was introduced by Ferdinand Birkner in 1936 , after it was found in Polling (district of Weilheim in Upper Bavaria). In addition to evidence of grain cultivation and livestock husbandry, the settlement of Polling has a remarkably high proportion of wild animal bones.

Material culture

The ceramic is characterized by beaker vessels with so-called carpet-style decoration (ribbons with cross-hatching and stitch decoration). The discovery of a tulip cup indicates influences of the Michelsberg culture .

Cultural-chronological classification

The Pollinger Group follows the Wallerfing Facies and is replaced by the Pfyner Kultur and Altheimer Kultur . It exists parallel to the late Münchshöfen culture , the Michelsberg culture and the Schussenried culture .
