Poly Panou
Poly Panou ( Greek Πόλυ Πάνου , bourgeois Polytimi Koliopanou Πολυτίμη Κολιοπάνου, born October 28, 1940 in Athens , grew up in Patra ; † September 27, 2013 in Athens), was a Greek folk singer. Her stage name is an abbreviation of her actual name Polytimi Koliopanou and was given to her by the singer Grigoris Bithikotsis .
She began in the style of rebetiko in the late 1950s and peaked in her career in the 1960s and 1970s. She worked with the Laïka composers Vasilis Tsitsanis and Giannis Papaioannou and founded her own record label in 1966. Three years later she performed in Paris.
