location

In contrast to other desert areas in this region, the exact location of the village is traceable. Pomela bona was on the western flank of a narrow and flat floodplain between the northern slope of a steep hill, the Pomelberg , and the southwestern bank of the Pomelsee . The small-scale landscape names still refer to the deserted place with these names. The old connecting road from Pomela bona to Wesenberg is also still there and is still used as a forest and forest road. Today this path connects the district road from Wesenberg to Wustrow with the forest area of the Drosedower Tannen between the Peetschsee and the Zirtowsee . The closest populated place today is Neu Drosedow, about 1.5 kilometers south of the desert.

The name of the place is of Slavic origin and probably denotes the quality of a settlement founder.
