The Pomelsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located two kilometers south-southwest of Wesenberg , to whose municipal area it also belongs.
The Pomelsee is a boiler lake with a maximum length of 600 meters and a width of almost 300 meters. Its south bank is bordered by the steep slope of the Pomelberg (89.7 m above sea level) and the forest area of the Drosedow firs . To the east and northeast, there is flat marshland, from which a ditch connects the lake with the Schwaanhavel .
The name Pomel refers to a former field mark Pomel , which named today's region of the eastern Drosedower fir up to the northern Plätlinsee . The village of Pomela bona , which became desolate in the late Middle Ages , gave this area, including the lake, its name.
