Pomeranian Lake District
The Pomeranian Lake District ( Polish Pojezierze Pomorskie ) is a lake landscape in Western Pomerania . Today it lies in the east of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship (north-west Poland ).
The lake district is located in the extreme western foothills of the Baltic ridge and consists of a large number of lakes. It is of Ice Age origin and is nestled between moraine hills . The Lake District is very similar to the Masurian and Mecklenburg Lake District and Holstein Switzerland .
The largest lake is the Jezioro Drawsko ( Dratzigsee ; 18.66 km²), through which the most important river in the landscape, the Drawa (Drage) , flows. The most important places are Myślibórz (Soldin) , Czaplinek (Tempelburg) , Szczecinek (Neustettin) , Połczyn-Zdrój (Bad Polzin) and Chojnice (Konitz) . Because the Pomeranian Lake District is much less well-known than the Masurian Lake District, it is considered to be still undeveloped for tourism and as original.
