Pompoï is both a commune ( French commune rurale ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso , in the Boucle du Mouhoun region and the province of Balé . The community has 11,060 inhabitants in nine villages.

On February 29, 2008, a new mosque was inaugurated in Pompoï, which was built by the Agence musulmane d'Afrique (AMA) and cost around 5 million CFA francs (about € 7,500).
