Pong Tuek ( Thai : พง ตึก ) is an archaeological find site and city in Tha Maka District , Province of Kanchanaburi in Central Thailand ,

On-site signs point to Phong Tuk Archaeological Site, the exhibition area is next to the local police station.

Pong Tuek is located northwest of Nakhon Pathom on the opposite bank of the Mae Nam Mae Klong (Mae Klong River) .

Pong Tuek is the first major site to study the introduction of Buddhism into Thai territory. The finds were originally dated to the 2nd century, but the French archaeologist Pierre Dupont put the age of the found Buddha statue at no earlier than the 6th century. The remains of a number of religious structures were found at Pong Tuek, including a chedi ( stupa ) and a wihan (assembly room).

A bronze lamp from the Roman Empire from the 5th or 6th century was also found and testifies to the far-reaching trade relations of the people of that time.
