Amphoe Tha Maka ( Thai อำเภอ ท่ามะกา ) is the southeasternmost administrative district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) of Kanchanaburi Province . Kanchanaburi Province is located in the western part of the central region of Thailand .

The neighboring counties are (clockwise from west): Amphoe Tha Muang , Phanom Thuan of Kanchanaburi Province, Amphoe Song Phi Nong of Suphan Buri Province , Amphoe Kamphaeng Saen of Nakhon Pathom Province and Amphoe Ban Pong of Ratchaburi Province .

The main water resource is the Mae Nam Mae Klong (Mae Klong River) .

history

Tha Maka was originally part of Ratchaburi Province. At that time it was called Lat Bua Khao ( ลาด บัวขาว ). In 1903 it was renamed Phra Thaen ( พระแท่น ), in 1917 again to its current name Tha Maka. In 1937 the county was assigned to Kanchanaburi Province, while Tambon Lat Bua Khao was renamed Ban Pong and remained in Ratchaburi.

Attractions

The Wat Phra Thaen Dong Rang , a Buddhist temple ( Wat ) from the Ayutthaya period , is located about 10 km northeast of Tha Ruea.

  • Don Khamin (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ดอน ขมิ้น ) consisting of parts of the tambon Don Khamin.
  • Phra Thaen Lam Phraya (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พระแท่น ลำ พระยา ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Phra Thaen.
  • Nong Lan (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ลาน ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Lan.
  • Luk Kae (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ลูก แก ) consisting of parts of the tambon Don Khamin.
  • Tha Maka (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่ามะกา ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Tha Maka.
  • Tha Mai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ไม้ ) consisting of the complete tambon Tha Mai.
