Amphoe Lao Khwan ( Thai : อำเภอ เลาขวัญ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the eastern part of Kanchanaburi Province . Kanchanaburi Province is located in the west of the central region of Thailand on the border with Myanmar .

Neighboring districts are (from south clockwise): Amphoe Huai Krachao , Bo Phloi and Nong Prue Kanchanaburi province, as well as the Amphoe Dan Chang , Nong Ya Sai , Don Chedi and U Thong of the province of Suphan Buri .

history

First, settlers from Laos came here to found a new village near Ban Ko and Ban Kao. Later residents from today's Bo Phloi district also moved in. When the government established a new city, it was therefore called Ban Lao Khwan (literally, the village of Lao happiness ).

On October 1, 1971, the "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) Lao Khwan was established by separating the three tambon Lao Khwan, Nong Sano and Nong Pradu from the Amphoe Phanom Thuan . On September 8, 1976, Lao Khwan received full Amphoe status.

Lao Khwan County is divided into seven tambon ("subdistricts" or "parishes"), which are further divided into 90 muban ("villages").

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Lao Khwan (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เลาขวัญ ) consisting of parts of the tambon Lao Khwan.
  • Nong Fai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ฝ้าย ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Nong Fai.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administration Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

  • Lao Khwan (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล เลาขวัญ ) consisting of parts of the tambon Lao Khwan.
  • Nong Sano (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง โสน ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Sano.
  • Nong Pradu (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง ประดู่ ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Pradu.
  • Nong Pling (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง ปลิง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Pling.
  • Nong Nok Kaeo (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง นก แก้ว ) consisting of the complete tambon Nong Nok Kaeo.
  • Thung Krabam (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล ทุ่ง กระ บ่ำ ) consisting of the complete tambon Thung Krabam.
  • Nong Fai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง ฝ้าย ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Nong Fai.
