Amphoe Nong Prue ( Thai อำเภอ หนอง ปรือ ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) in Kanchanaburi Province . Kanchanaburi Province is located in the western part of the central region of Thailand .

etymology

Nong (Thai: หนอง ) means marshland or swamp , Prue (Thai: ปรือ ) is Scleria poiformis Retz. Translated, the name means sedge swamp .

geography

Neighboring districts are (from the east clockwise): Amphoe Lao Khwan , Bo Phloi and Si Sawat Kanchanaburi province and Amphoe Dan Chang of the province of Suphan Buri .

history

The area of today's Nong Prue district was formerly called Ban Nong Prue and was located in the Tambon Nong Ri of the Bo Phloi district . It later became the Tambon Nong Prue. On April 1, 1992, Tambon Nong Prue and Nong Pla Lai were separated from Bo Phloi by the Ministry of the Interior and a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) Nong Prue was established. A little later, the third tambon Somdet Charoen was also assigned to the Nong Prue district. Since October 11, 1997, Nong Prue has had full amphoe status.

Somdet Charoen (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สมเด็จ เจริญ ) consisting of the complete tambon Somdet Charoen.
Nong Prue (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ปรือ ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Nong Prue.
