Ponholzmühle is a district of the district town of Cham . Geographically, Ponholzmühle is about 4 km northwest of Cham not far from the Regen river .

The name "Ponholzmühle" probably originated from the mill that for many decades lay on the Holderbach, which flows through the small town. In the course of time, a large number of residential buildings were built around the mill. However, the mill was demolished in the 1970s.

There is little industry in Ponholzmühle, there is only a single construction company.
