Ponte Caffaro ([ ˈpontɛ ˈkafːaro ], "Bridge over the Caffaro") is a place on the northern tip of Lake Idro at an altitude of 379 m slm. It is a fraction of the municipality of Bagolino , in the province of Brescia .
The river Caffaro forms the border between the regions Lombardy and Trentino-Alto Adige at its bridge and was the border between Austria and Italy until 1919 . Here the two rivers Chiese and Caffaro flow into Lake Idro, which they - along with a few other small tributaries - feed.
Ponte Caffaro and the surrounding area are a popular tourist destination . In addition to the landscape around the lake, the village can look back on centuries of history. The Habsburg Rudolf II owned a summer residence near the town that is no longer preserved today.
