The Poppe + Potthoff GmbH is a company from East Westphalia Werther (Westf.) ( Gütersloh , North Rhine-Westphalia ). Founded in 1928 by Friedrich Poppe and Herman Potthoff, the company employs around 1,650 people and achieved sales of 225 million euros in 2018.

In addition to the headquarters and a technology center in Werther, Poppe + Potthoff operates four other locations in Germany and eleven abroad, including in Ajka , Hungary , in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, China and the USA. The company is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ATF 16949 certified .

history

In 1928 Friedrich Poppe and Herman Potthoff founded the precision tube factory in Werther, Westphalia. In 1953 the production of the first seamless stainless steel tubes began. The pipe processing service center was set up in 1957 and the P&P ART-TEC division was founded in 1988 .

In 1993 the company was certified according to the ISO 9001 quality management certification. In 1994 the P&P Artec America division was founded. In 1997 the P&P environmental management system was certified according to the EC Eco-Audit Regulation 1836/93 and in 1998 the stainless steel pipe division was sold.

In 2003 the company relocated the entire automotive production to Ajka, Hungary. In 2004 the Poppe + Potthoff quality management system was certified according to ISO / TS 16949: 2002 and DIN EN ISO 9001: 2000. In 2006 P + P took over the Meister Groupe with locations in Belgium , France and the Czech Republic and in 2007 the French sas Comte . In 2008 the Poppe + Potthoff GmbH Holding was founded and the pipe factory was renamed into an independent subsidiary Poppe + Potthoff Präzisionstahlrohre GmbH . The technology center in Werther was also built in 2008. Since around 2011, the acquired companies have been bearing the name of the parent company: Poppe + Potthoff. At the end of 2011, the group further diversified its product portfolio by purchasing the coupling specialist R + W Antriebselemente from Klingenberg. In 2013, the Poppe + Potthoff Group invested in a new production facility for diesel injection lines at the Hungarian location and in a new plant for clutches in Slovakia.
